Two Maginnis Howard settlements appear on North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s list of the Top Verdicts & Settlements of 2020.
First Settlement: #7
The first of the two Maginnis Howard settlements to appear on the list came it at #7.
A North Carolina Superior Court Judge approved a settlement valued at more than $7 million dollars for claims under state unfair debt collection statutes filed on behalf of tenants of Southwood Realty Company, a North Carolina property management company.
Along with Southwood’s settlement, Bridge Property Management (Wake County) agreed to pay $505,000, and Grubb Management (Raleigh) will pay $475,000.

Second Settlement: #36
The second settlement to appear on the list came in at #36.
Maginnis Howard attorneys, T. Shawn Howard and Karl S. Gwaltney settled a case where the family of a 14-year-old who was killed while crossing the street to board her school bus received a total of $1,360,000.
