Consumer Protection: Harassing Calls and False Deadlines — $31,500 Settlement

In 2015, after filing a lawsuit, Shawn Howard and Edward Maginnis obtained a $31,500 settlement on behalf of a Massachusetts couple who had been harassed by a North Carolina collection agency regarding alleged debt owed to a health care provider. The collection agency representative had provided the couple with false ultimatums by which they needed to respond to his calls and continued to contact them after the agency had been notified that the couple was represented by their Massachusetts counsel.
